Secret Club Project

April 17th, 2007

FYI of an exciting upcoming event:

The Secret Club Project lecture and exhibit comes to Providence, RI

Event Description: Although 900,000 miscarriages occur in the United States each year, pregnancy loss remains a surprisingly taboo topic. The Secret Club Project breaks the silence by exhibiting powerful works of art by women from around the country. Their words and images provide a glimpse into the hidden dimensions of infertility, pregnancy loss and stillbirth. This award-winning project has 45 participating artists and features a traveling exhibition, lecture series, and website (www.secretclubproject.org).

Laura Seftel, the Founding Director of the project and author of the book
Grief Unseen: Healing Pregnancy Loss Through the Arts, will present a narrated slide talk on the emotional impact of pregnancy loss and how families around the world use the creative process to heal their grief. A reception with an exhibit of plaques displaying the art from The Secret Club Project, a local grief and loss resource section and Laura’s book will be available for sale following the lecture.

Date: Wednesday, April 25, 2007
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Place: Women and Infants Hospital Auditorium
101 Dudley Street
